Intro: Pizza with four kinds if cheeses you say?! Somebody better quickly bring in the straight jacket- I’m headed for Food Rehab!
Details: 46 New Quay Promenade, Docklands, Victoria 3008 03 9640 0550
Surroundings: Outdoor seating next to the harbour, watching the boats go by whilst soaking up the sun and the savory smells of wood ovened pizza. Indoor atmosphere semi- formal.
Entree: hell no!
Main: Quattro formaggi pizza- the name translates as four kinds of cheeses being mozzarella, gorgonzola, fontina and parmesan served on an intense tomato thin and crispy base allowing your mouth to pull away from each bite of stringy melted delectable cheese.
If this weren’t enough, the next main sent me absolutely insane. Meanwhile, my friends were mortified- looking at me with their beady eyes in awe. Oh, this is all too entertaining.
Bistecca alla Toscana – basically, steak. To be precise- grilled rib eye steak, served with roasted vegetables and a red wine sauce. Not sure on the grade as this was not confirmed. Perfectly chargrilled just the way I like it with the exterior slightly burnt and crispy and the inside- juicy, the right amount of pink/reds with little blood.
Traditional Italian Hot Chocolate – was an absolute winner…but maybe I should have ordered this at the end of the meal but could not resist. Hmm.. This was thick, creamy and with the right amount of cocoa. Only problem was that it didn’t leave enough room for the rest of the actual meal. Best hot chocolate in a restaurant to date.
Bring a date here? Perfect place for it. Perhaps on a weeknight if you want to hear yourselves talk as Friday and Saturdays can get pretty noisy.
Service: Welcoming, sociable and humorous manager and staff made the night very enjoyable.
