Intro: Made me question “What the hell have I been drinking?”
Details: 12-18 Yarra Place, South Melbourne VIC 3205. Near Coles.
(St Ali Laneway Festival 6 Februray)
Surroundings: Roasting machines and a hidden graffitied laneway entrance create an industrious feel, similar to Richmond. Natural light equally teamed up with hanging bulbs highlight the mid-dark coloured wooden furniture and purposely dented floors. There’s also a mini alfresco dining area along with hidden corners perfect for those confidential convos.
Liquid consumption: St Ali not only roast their own blend on the premises, but they also source the beans. Their barista staff are amazing, ensuring that each cup is smooth, velvety, producing the right amount of bitterness with that thick creamy froth. It’s now an official habit coming down here on a weary morning, as I close my eyes in appreciation as each sip is taken.
Bring a date here? This place will give you both something to “ooh and ahh” about. Just don’t order to many coffees, otherwise your date may turn real giddy…
Service: Friendly staff
Food Rehab Verdict: Sent me to food rehab (book this place now! Wowzer) – Greenlight
**** This goes down as my No.1 Coffee house in Melbourne.*****
Times revisited: lost count. This is my local joint, so staying away has proven to be very difficult. In fact, to be honest, impossible! Help…
