Intro: Chocolate cheesecake- why did they do this to me…pure evil.
Details: Reviewed: 53 Martin Place, Sydney 2000 (02) 8257 1600 and 271 Collins St, Melbourne, VIC 3000 (03) 9667 090
Surroundings: classy joint with high ceilings and cream colored walls, black & white uniformed staff. The best thing about this place is that you’re surrounded by an abundance of chocolate and cake selections. Just don’t get tempted to buy way too much merchandise….like someone….I know..
Liquid consumption: San Pellegrino
Dessert: Velour- a chocolate cheesecake (70% cocoa) was small enough to eat in three bites. At $12 a slice, I thought to myself…I need to be patient and eat it slowly enough in order to savour its full richness, and that I did. Do you believe me? Hell no- I ate in 3 homeboy. The texture was silky smooth, velvety (ready for marriage..) and the hint of cream cheese was evident throughout with the added bonus of a melted lindt ball aftertaste.
It was the best of both worlds. Damn it. Now I have that damn Hannah Montana theme song in my head! Put me down…with this cake as my last meal of course.
Chocolate Macaroons were too good- although I may have ruined the whole experience by making a triple macaroon sandwich.
Bring a date here? Yes
Night out with friends here? Yes, especially after work on a Friday. Who needs alcohol when you have chocolate!
Service: Reasonably friendly, staff were abundant but a little nonchalant about things. The cake was the only reason why I was there anyways.
